The Columbus SL tubing set, originally known as Strada Leggera, is one of the most iconic steel tube families in the history of road bicycle framebuilding. Made in Italy from Columbus’ proprietary OMNICROM Cromoly steel alloy, SL uses cold-drawn seamless tubes with classic imperial diameters and refined butting profiles. Compared to modern oversized TIG-oriented tubing families, Columbus SL is designed around a more classic framebuilding approach. Its round profiles and traditional dimensions make it particularly suitable for lugged or fillet brazed steel frames, where proportion, clean lines and accurate tube selection are essential.
