Columbus XCr represents the highest expression of stainless steel bicycle framebuilding. Developed as Columbus’ top-of-the-range tubeset, XCr is made from seamless biphasic stainless steel, a rare and technically demanding material chosen for premium handmade frames, custom geometries and made-to-measure bicycles where performance, longevity and material purity all matter.

XCr offers excellent long-term corrosion resistance and is especially appreciated for frames where the material itself becomes part of the visual identity. When properly polished and finished, it can also be used for exposed stainless frame finishes, offering an elegant alternative to a full painted finish.

XCr tubes use differentiated double and triple butted profiles, with very thin wall sections and a remarkably smooth, consistent surface finish. This combination allows skilled framebuilders to work with a lightweight stainless tubeset that offers high mechanical performance, excellent weldability and outstanding resistance to stress corrosion cracking.

It can be matched with Columbus carbon forks, suitable head tubes, high-quality bottom bracket shells, braze-on bosses and CNC-machined dropouts, depending on the intended frame design and finishing approach.
