Seventy-seven millimetres of rim depth exists for one reason: to make a front wheel disappear into the wind. The WTO 77 Pista comes out of Campagnolo's Bora WTO (Wind Tunnel Optimized) project, developed at the Campy Tech Lab specifically around drag reduction rather than depth-for-depth's-sake — which is exactly why it's positioned as the fastest front wheel on the market rather than just the deepest.
The rim profile is tuned for peak efficiency at yaw angles between 12° and 19°, the window where a rider or triathlete actually spends most of a race — not the 0° number brands love to quote in isolation. The central hub is shaped to cut frontal area and keep airflow attached rather than tumbling off the spokes, which matters more at speed than most riders give it credit for.
Where the speed actually comes from:
- 16-spoke elliptical cross-section — reduces rolling resistance versus a traditional round-spoke build, without sacrificing lateral stiffness under hard efforts
- CULT cup-and-cone bearings — Campagnolo's ceramic bearing system, built for low friction that holds up ride after ride rather than degrading after the first few hundred kilometres
- 2-Way Fit rim profile — runs clincher or tubeless, both at the lowest rolling resistance the rim allows, so you're not locked into one tyre system
- C19 rim class — pairs cleanly with tyres from 23mm to 28mm, keeping the rim-tyre interface aerodynamically consistent rather than ballooning out past the rim edge
This is a front wheel built for time trial and triathlon positions where every watt saved to drag compounds over distance — pair it with a matching Complete Wheelsets rear, or check Tires for tubeless-ready rubber sized to the C19 rim. For hub servicing down the line, our Campagnolo Wheel Spare Parts range covers CULT bearing internals.
Full aerodynamic data from the Campy Tech Lab is available on Campagnolo Bora WTO official page.
