Colnago TT2: the new flagship for time trial racing
The Colnago TT2 was born directly from the requests of WorldTour partners UAE Team Emirates-XRG and UAE Team ADQ, developed to meet the demands of modern time trial racing: hilly, technical courses with frequent accelerations and direction changes. The TT2 project focused on three pillars: aerodynamics, frame weight, and geometry for optimal rider fit and handling.
Next-generation aerodynamics
The front end — head tube, fork, and cockpit — has been completely redesigned to minimize frontal area and drag coefficient. The head tube reaches a minimum width of just 32 mm, while the fully integrated cockpit narrows to 360 mm center-to-center with a slimmer profile. The result is a frontal area comparable to the TT1 (21,008 mm² vs 21,125 mm²), despite increased tyre clearance and a fork built around a conventional 25 mm steerer tube.
The new integrated hydration system, developed alongside the frame from the earliest stages, features the Aero Bottle with Fidlock® TWIST magnetic fastening: a single aerodynamic bottle-and-cage body, as thin and long as UCI regulations allow, reducing turbulence in the area between the rider's legs without compromising usability during a race.
A frame 550 grams lighter
The TT2 frame kit weighs 2,240 g compared to the TT1's 2,785 g — a saving of roughly 550 grams achieved through a complete redesign of structural junctions, a new high-modulus carbon fiber lay-up, and an all-new fork (393 g vs 530 g) that replaces the TT1's bayonet design.
Revised geometry across 4 sizes
With the introduction of 4 frame sizes (XS, S, M, L) and revised stack-to-reach ratios, the TT2 offers a significantly wider fit range than the TT1, benefiting both shorter and taller riders. Head tube angles and fork rake have been optimized for more responsive steering and cornering precision, while a steeper seat tube angle and lowered bottom bracket enable aggressive, aerodynamic positions without compromising power transfer.
