An icon returns. The highest-performing frame De Rosa has ever built, in its most openly race-oriented interpretation.

The De Rosa Merak has reached its fifth evolution: the finest, highest-performing carbon fibres available, a 700-gram frame, two years of development and, in this Race version, six colourways that reinterpret the model's racing history in contemporary form.

At a glance

  • Frame 700 g (unpainted, size 480), fork 280 g (unpainted, steerer cut)

  • Six colourways: Palla di fuoco, Purple, Red, Silver, White, Black

  • High- and ultra-high-modulus carbon layup: T1100 and M40J

  • 8 sizes, from 42.5 to 56.5

  • T47 86 mm bottom bracket · UDH Compatible · 1"1/2 – 1"1/2 headset

  • ACR Hidden Cables compatible (cockpit not included)

  • Tyre clearance up to 34c

  • This listing includes: frame, fork, headset, De Rosa seatpost, front and rear thru axles

The Race colourways

The Race colourways retrace the most significant victories in the Merak's history, reinterpreted in contemporary form and with a distinctly racing character. Clean, taut lines built around the sensation of speed, with nothing to distract the eye: the down tube logo stays restrained and the shape of the frame remains the subject.

Available in Palla di fuoco, Purple, Red, Silver, White and Black.

The frame

More than 70% of the layup is premium fibre — predominantly T1100 and M40J, with a proportion of 60T in the most heavily loaded areas — while standard-modulus T700, found in a large share of the carbon frames on sale today, is absent: the higher the modulus, the less material needed to reach the same stiffness.

The rear triangle and fork use more generous cross-sections, with a clear volume when the bike is seen from behind. That is the work which keeps the frame controllable on descents and at speed, where a 700-gram frame risks turning twitchy.

As a complete build the Merak sits between 6.9 and 7.1 kg depending on specification. With the right components, going under the UCI 6.8 kg limit is far from difficult.

The cockpit designed with Vision

For the new Merak, De Rosa developed a dedicated cockpit together with Vision, drawn around the lines of the frame. It is the pairing the design was conceived for, and it is the one we recommend.

The frame uses the ACR Hidden Cables standard, so cockpits from other manufacturers remain compatible if you have specific requirements of width or geometry.

The cockpit is not included in this listing.

Build your Merak your way

The Merak is also available as a complete bike. Several pre-configured builds are online, but customisation can go a great deal further.

Tell us about the build you have in mind and we will give you all the support you need to make your dream bike real.

Eight sizes, from 42.5 to 56.5

The sizes are closely spaced and two adjacent sizes are not equivalent: with a racing position, height alone is not a sufficient criterion. We have worked in bike fitting for many years — send us your fit data, or the measurements of the bike you ride now, and we will give you a reliable indication before you buy. For anyone who wants absolute certainty, we go deeper into the assessment once the order is placed.

Cicli Corsa and De Rosa: partners since 2012

De Rosa is the brand Cicli Corsa began with. We have been official dealers since 2012, and with Cristiano De Rosa and his sons we share respect, friendship and many years of work done together. It is why we know which builds genuinely work.

And if you have a question, someone answers. Our customer service team handles sizing, cockpit choice, specification and any other doubt, before and after your purchase: write to customerservice@ciclicorsa.com and you will hear back from someone who knows these frames.

Frequently asked questions

Is the cockpit included in this listing? No, it is purchased separately. De Rosa developed a dedicated cockpit for the new Merak together with Vision, and that is the pairing we recommend; the ACR Hidden Cables standard also leaves compatibility open to cockpits from other manufacturers.

Is the seatpost available with setback? Yes. Alongside the zero-offset version there are 12 mm and 25 mm setback options, and the choice is made when you order at no extra cost. Tell us the setback you need at the time of purchase. Tightening torque: 6 Nm.

Can you handle the complete build? Yes. You can buy the frameset on its own, or leave the build to us: several configurations are already available online and we can work on a fully custom specification. Write to us before ordering and we will prepare a quote.

Classic, Dynamic and Race: what changes? Technically, nothing: frame, layup and on-road behaviour are identical. What changes is the graphics, the finish and the aesthetic interpretation. The Classic keeps graphic markings to a minimum; the Dynamic combines several tones with graphic details; the Race takes an openly race-oriented approach.
