The Filante SLR ID2 represents the ultimate evolution of Wilier’s aerodynamic racing bikes. Developed in close collaboration with the Groupama – FDJ Cycling Team, every detail is engineered around the rider, reflecting Wilier’s philosophy of speed.
Lightweight, responsive, and extremely aerodynamic, the Filante SLR ID2 redefines performance standards by putting you at the centre of every design choice. Aerodynamics is not an end in itself—it serves the rider, offering maximum efficiency, comfort, and control in all conditions. Speed, innovation, and Italian tradition come together in a bike designed to elevate your riding experience—the fastest in the WorldTour landscape.
Rigorous testing in the Silverstone wind tunnel pushed this ambitious project beyond expectations. The result: a 13.6% reduction in drag, exceeding CFD predictions. In the complete bike-rider system, aerodynamic resistance improved by 4.5%. Compared to the Filante SLR ID1, riding at 40 km/h saves 14.15 watts, and over a 70 km route at 290 W, you gain 1 minute and 45 seconds—a crucial advantage in competitive racing.
Direct comparisons with the top five WorldTour bikes from other brands show an average aerodynamic coefficient improvement of 2.42%, translating to real-world seconds gained and measurable competitive advantages.
Integrated Innovation: Aerokit System
The down tube was engineered to minimize drag while reducing water bottle exposure. The Aerokit, developed with Elite Cycling, combines functionality and aerodynamics with a total capacity of 1100 ml, distributed for minimal impact on airflow. Aerodynamically, it acts like a spoiler, stabilizing airflow and reducing drag by over two-thirds compared to conventional systems. It also accommodates traditional round bottles—550 ml on the down tube and up to 750 ml on the seat tube.
F-Bar ID2: Aerodynamic Cockpit for Control and Comfort
The F-Bar ID2 cockpit was developed with input from engineers and Groupama – FDJ riders to maximize efficiency and control. The Optimized Ergonomic Flare (O.E.F.) introduces a 3 cm orthogonal flare between the high and low grips, maintaining ergonomics while offering a natural, comfortable, and aerodynamic position. For the first time on a Wilier, the handlebar clamping hardware is fully hidden, improving aesthetics, protecting against dirt and sweat, and enhancing aerodynamic performance—all UCI-compliant.
Fork: Aerodynamic Efficiency in Every Detail
The fork combines external NACA airfoils with a flat internal profile, tested with CFD simulations to optimise airflow around the wheel and tyre. The fork crown is more pronounced than on the previous SLR, providing superior torsional stiffness and stress resistance. A thin aerodynamic fin on the left leg guides airflow around the disc brake, refining the partial fairing concept first used on the Supersonica SLR. The thru-axle clamping bushing is integrated into the right fork leg for clean aesthetics and aerodynamic benefits—a first for Wilier.
Seatpost and Shimano Di2 Integration
The new seatpost features a slender, sharp profile to optimise aerodynamic efficiency without compromising stiffness or comfort. Available with 0 mm offset or 15 mm setback, it absorbs vertical vibrations while enhancing aerodynamics. The Shimano Di2 battery is repositioned to the bottom bracket area for improved accessibility, a lower center of gravity, and better stability at high speeds.
Rear Triangle and Tyre Clearance
The rear triangle retains the family look of previous Filante models but is fully redesigned. The rear stays are inclined inward by 2.5° for better pedal dynamics, slightly lengthened for new UDH dropout compatibility, increased tyre clearance up to 34 mm, and improved overall stability. Thanks to the removable derailleur support, the drivetrain can be set up as a 1x system with chainrings up to 56 teeth, enhancing clean aesthetics, reducing weight, and improving performance in racing configurations.
Geometries and Fitting
Direct collaboration with Groupama – FDJ refined every aspect of frame geometry. The AccuFit system ensures consistent precision across all sizes. With 6 frame sizes, 7 handlebar spacers, 5 stem lengths, and 2 seatpost versions, the Filante SLR ID2 allows 420 unique fitting configurations, differing by just 2 mm each—delivering a truly tailored riding position.
Materials and Weight
The Filante SLR ID2 uses premium carbon composites from Toray (T800, T1100, M46JB), balancing responsiveness, stiffness, and weight. A complete Dura-Ace Di2 build weighs 7.1 kg, with the frame around 870 g.
The Colour of Speed
At Wilier Triestina, colour conveys identity and emotion. Every shade is designed to reflect light and movement, enhancing the lines of the Filante SLR ID2:
Pure White: brilliant, pure, and luminous like snow in the sun.
Solar Bronze: warm, metallic, and radiant like golden sand at sunset.
Aurora Blue (Premium Paint): deep blue with red and gold highlights, changing with the light.
Lunar Grey: subtle, deep grey with soft purple and silver reflections.
Eclipse Black: deep, glossy black like obsidian, elegant and mysterious, reflecting light subtly.
On the top of the frame, exposed carbon reveals the heart of the bike, creating a visual dialogue between seatpost and handlebar for a coherent and dynamic aesthetic.
