A high modulus monocoque carbon fibre frame, with flat mount disc brake setup and 12 mm through axle. Added rear clearance allows wheels of up to 28mm and discs up to 160mm. The new Cinelli Superstar disc represents the latest in technical advancements and current trend with disc brakes and wider tires. The bike on test was kitted out with Shimano Ultegra hydraulic, Cinelli finishing kit and a Mavic Ksyrium Elite UST Disc wheelset.

How does it ride?

The bike was taken on short local loops as well as on longer rides. The Superstar is a genuinely versatile machine, it took on steep climbs, rough tarmac and technical descents with aplomb. A bike this versatile puts the n+1 theory to the test as, barring seriously rough single track, the Superstar excels in so many areas. The standout achievement is that Cinelli has managed to make the frame comfortable, stiff in the right areas and agile. On descents, the powerful disc brakes provide serious confidence allowing later braking and letting you gather up a lot more speed on straight sections.

Bikes like these maybe espouse the current trend for road bikes but they're undeniably versatile and offer great value for money.
