When an increasing number of riders break free from the constraints of paved roads and seek the liberty that mixed surface riding provides, we at Basso answer their call with a solution that remains faithful to our tradition and values for the road while optimizing for a new, varied terrain. While others do gravel, we do Palta…the Basso solution for those wishing to take on adventures without taking route conditions into consideration. The Palta, which in local dialect means mud or dirt, has gained an international following and universal respect thanks to its “specific versatility”. If freedom is the name of the game in the gravel sector then Palta is king as it excels in a variety of applications. Perfectly adaptable to road replacement, gravel racing, cross riding or the epic multiday adventure, the Palta is to the gravel world what the multi-tool is to your saddle bag…but without compromises.
With over 40 years of expertise in developing efficient geometries Basso developed an innovative solution that combines both comfort and performance and ensures fantastic handling in all situations. The specially developed Palta fork stands out and is fundamental to allowing for both great versatility amongst varied terrain in addition to a geometry that provides comfort and efficiency while allowing for near road-like positioning if need be. New terrain, same philosophy. Beautifully functional, functionally beautiful. Made for speed, made to last, made by Basso.

Gravel attracts cyclists for a wide variety of reasons but the Basso Palta attracts gravel riders for largely the same motives: quality craftsmanship, long lasting performance and a ride quality that begs for speed. The same qualities that have made the Basso frames so highly coveted on the road find themselves incorporated into the Palta, although adapted for the versatile nature of gravel. While others do gravel #wedopalta
Gravel takes on several definitions but no matter how you choose to ride the Palta delivers a fantastic riding experience as if it were specifically designed for your particular type of riding for any given day. Compliant enough to smooth out the roughest terrain yet remaining as reactive and efficient as our road specific platforms the Palta leaves even the most demanding cyclist wondering where this frame makes a compromise. Basso, since its inception, creates speed solutions for the road. The Palta maintains that same speed over any terrain, in comfort and control. Versatility has a new name: Palta.
Adventure requires the ability to adapt to a wide variety of conditions and the Palta does just that. Ample tire clearance for up to 42mm rubber allows the rider to dial his or her ride perfectly for the road, the rough stuff and everything inbetween. The meticulously studied layup of the 100% Torayca High Modulus carbon fiber used in the Palta’s construction, along with its unconventional gravel shape, leave the rider amazed at just how smooth a reactive and fast frame can be across all terrain.
Ready for any type of riding and any type of ride, the Palta takes on design elements that see it fit for all scenarios. 7 bottle cage bolts for carrying up to three water bottles increases the autonomy of the rider and increases the potential adventures he or she can take on.
Perhaps the most recognizeable design element of the Palta comes in the form of the fork. Its particular shape is not only pleasing to the eye but also to the senses as the form and carbon layup confer increased handling precision and comfort.
Sloping
Incresed sloping value to allow more seatpost exposure and flex leading to increased comfort.
Headtube
Taller headtube for less spacers and more comfort. But we didn’t forget about the racers… Riders will have the possibility to mount the stem flush with the head tube for lower stack. #SlamThatStem
Fork
The unique geometry of the advanced fork stays confer both a more precise handling as well as vibration dampening to the ride quality.
Air Flow
Larger spacing between tire and fork allows for better air flow and increased clearance.
Design
The design of the Palta II follows the philosophy of maintaining the overwhelmingly long list of positive elements from the first version and improving, where possible.
Tire clearence
Tire clearence up to 45 mm tires with 700c wheels. Note: Indicated tire clearence is guaranteed with gravel groupsets. Road bike groupsets follow manufacturer suggested clearence.
Bags & Bottles
Top tube hidden bolts to accomodate compatible bags. 3 different bottle cage positons: 2 on the downtube and 1 on the seat tube.
Protection & Compatibility
The downtube also features a plastic protection that can be fitted when riding on rought gravel. Palta is compatible with both 2x and 1x electronic and mechanical groupsets, both gravel and road (up to 52-36 chain rings).
3B Clamp System Gen 2
A totally hidden fixing solution that is invisible on the frame, intertwining technological and aesthetic innovation.
The result is a lightweight, invisible and strong integrated system with three screws, which has been further implemented through the vulcanization of the steel plank. This Basso solution gives the 3B system an anti-vibration function, which improves the riding experience by elevating comfort on uneven and bumpy surfaces.
The Paradigma Integration System
“In Basso, we don’t take anything for granted. We believe in ground up engineering, attention to detail and beauty. This was the attitude and belief that led us to the development of the new Paradigma Integration System: stem, spacers, headset”.

Carbon Gravel handlebar
Ergonomics & Comfort
Developed from the ground up taking off road comfort as the main focus, we reduced the section of the handlebar to integrate a 4.5 mm thickness bar tape and studied ergonomics in all hands positions, from the tops to the drops.
