You say bottom bracket and - probably - you think of two cups, made of aluminium or plastic material, which house the bearings on which the crankset axle turns.

This is the typical situation if we think of what Shimano and Sram offer, but also the majority of aftermarket manufacturers such as Chris King, Ceramicspeed, Cane Creek, FSA, Miche and others.

Campagnolo, however, has chosen another path since 2006, when it introduced the Ultra-Torque and Power-Torque systems. A revolutionary bottom bracket system with an important and crucial difference.

In fact, in this case the bearings are pressed directly onto the crankset axle (or semi-axles) and not inside the bottom bracket cups.

Therefore, if we want to purchase Campagnolo bottom bracket cups, we will be faced with "naked" aluminium cups, without any bearings installed inside. The advantage of this system lies in the extremely low tolerances between the components, which translates into greater coupling precision and, therefore, less power loss.

POWER-TORQUE™️

The Power-Torque was designed for entry-level groupsets, such as Athena and Potenza (no longer in the catalogue).

t provides for a through crankset axle, which is attached to the right crank only. The left crank is fitted at the and of the axle thanks to a Splined coupling system, similar to what happens at Shimano and Sram.

The first version of the Centaur groupset also used this system, which is now obsolete: today the Centaur - like all the rest of the Campagnolo range - relies on the Ultra-Torque.

ULTRA-TORQUE™️

The Ultra-Torque cups are entirely similar to the previous Power-Torque cups - i.e. they do not house the bearings directly, but the system they accommodate changes.

The crankset has the through axle split in half: each crank is integral with one part of the axle and there is a bearing on each side. In the middle of the bottom bracket, the two parts intersect with a system of matching teeth.

This is how the union takes place, which is even stronger than with the Power-Torque. This minimises structural torsion and - therefore - power dispersion.

Ultra-Torque™️

The Ultra-Torque system is shared by the Campagnolo Super Record, Record, Chorus, Centaur and Ekar groupsets.

PRO-TECH™️

The latest arrival, in order of time, is Pro-Tech technology, which perfects the Ultra-Torque system.

Presented at the same time as the launch of the Ekar gravel groupset, it also matches perfectly with the Super Record wireless groupset. The system is the same as the Ultra-Torque (naked cups and bearings integral with the semi-axles of the crankset); Pro-Tech's innovation lies only in the specific design and construction of the cups.

Pro-Tech™️

In fact, these have a patented external sealing gasket that protects the bearings from the harmful ingress of water, mud and sand, so as to ensure maximum fluidity of movement and robustness of the bottom bracket axle in any situation, even in the heaviest use.

In addition, the provided internal sleeve is watertight to prevent contamination from inside the bottom bracket.

The Ultra-Torque and Pro-Tech cap options are available in different standards - threaded and Press Fit - to fit all frames on the market.

Threaded ITA, BSA, T47x68 and T47x86; Press Fit BB30 (68x42), BB30A (73x42), BB86 (86,5x41), PF30 (68x46), BB RIGHT (79x46) and BB386 (86,5x46).

Cicli Corsa is a point of reference for the sale and service of Campagnolo products. With the introduction of the Pro-Tech system, which flanks the Ultra-Torque, we expand the offer of bottom brackets for the best match with Ekar cranksets, but also Super Record, Record and Chorus, both mechanical and electronic.

As usual, we offer our customers the best possible sales and after-sales service: our team is available to advise on the choice, assembly and customisation of your bicycles, to guarantee a custom assembly that meets everyone's needs.
