How many bicycle brands today can boast a range of frames built in carbon fiber, aluminum, steel and titanium?

Nothing comes to mind?

De Rosa is one of the few brands that offers such a diverse selection of frame materials.

The brand is approaching 70 years old and in 1953 Ugo De Rosa, a true master frame building, started building steel frames in his Cusano Milanino workshop.

Titanio De Rosa

The 1980s was a period in which steel was king in the construction of racing frames and the Cusano Milanino workshop produced thousands each year.

Ugo, at the head of the workshop, had created a very close knit team of expert welders and frame builders capable of experimenting with new techniques and innovative solutions that could give De Rosa bicycles advantages within the racing world.

The history of the brand is peppered with many successes of great champions riding their custom bikes, such as Eddy Merckx, who had established a close knit and personal bond with Ugo.

It was at the turn of the 80s and 90s that the brand decided to experiment with titanium, a material still unknown to many, but with precious and unique mechanical characteristics.

De Rosa believed in the new project so much that in 1994 he decided to let Moreno Argentin, Giorgio Furlan, Evgenij Berzin and Vladislav Bobrik (the heavy hitters from the Gewiss-Ballan team) ride on the De Rosa titanium frame.

The result?

Three Monument victories - Milan-Sanremo, Liège-Bastogne-Liège and Giro di Lombardia as well as stage wins at the Giro d'Italia and Tour de France.

These achievements cemented the reputation of the De Rosa Titanio, which continues today and the baton now passes on to the new generation, Nicholas De Rosa, who has inherited the same mastery of frame building.

This generation continues this tradition that has forever evolved, keeping up with trends and very often anticipating them.
