De Rosa Merak 2026: the new 700g carbon frameset

De Rosa Merak 2026: the new 700g carbon frameset

Back

The De Rosa Merak reaches its fifth evolution: the finest carbon fibres available, a 700-gram frame, two years of development. Not a cosmetic update — the Merak still surprises on technical content and performance, without setting style aside.

The layup: high- and ultra-high-modulus fibres Built predominantly from T1100 and M40J, with 60T where extra stiffness is needed. Premium fibres cover over 70% of the structure; standard-modulus T700 — common on the market — doesn't appear at all. Higher-modulus fibre needs less material for the same stiffness: that's how you cut weight without cutting response.

Light, without turning twitchy The rear triangle and fork use more generous cross-sections, keeping the frame controllable at speed and on descents. As a complete build the Merak sits between 6.9 and 7.1 kg depending on spec — with the right components, going under the UCI 6.8 kg limit isn't difficult.

The cockpit designed with Vision De Rosa developed a dedicated cockpit with Vision, drawn around the frame's lines — the pairing we recommend. The ACR Hidden Cables standard keeps other cockpits compatible for specific width or geometry needs. Not included in the frameset listing.

One platform. Three ways to read it. Classic, Dynamic and Race share exactly the same frame — what changes is how it presents itself, and what it says about the rider.

  • Classic — logo pared back, surface left clear. Four colourways: Blue, Green, Iris, Rose.

  • Dynamic — multi-tone colourways, graphic details, longitudinal lines: De Rosa's "retrofuturist" territory. Five colourways: Black, Gold, Violet, White, Purple.

  • Race — colourways retracing the Merak's key victories, reinterpreted with a racing edge. Six colourways: Palla di Fuoco, Purple, Red, Silver, White, Black.

One frame, many roads Not a pure climber, not a dedicated aero bike, not an endurance bike: an all-round race bike — a deliberate position in an increasingly specialised market. Tyre clearance up to 34c widens its range.

Technical specification

  • Frame weight: 700 g (unpainted, size 480)

  • Fork weight: 280 g (unpainted, steerer cut)

  • Sizes: 8 (42.5 – 56.5)

  • Headset: 1"1/2 – 1"1/2

  • Cable routing: ACR Hidden Cables

Eight sizes make for a closely spaced range, but two adjacent sizes aren't interchangeable — on a racing position, height alone isn't enough. With recent fit data, or the measurements of your current bike, we can give you a reliable indication while you're still choosing.
